![]() The same conclusion is true in verse 43 concerning the hearer choosing the Lake of Fire or the Kingdom of God. That singular choice is of particular importance at this point in the parable. The soil, that is, the person the seed fell on, has the power to allow or reject the seed's taking root by choosing to listen or not. However, one factor is still beyond the sower's power. In addition, the human soil the seed fell upon was also good. Consider these factors in what Jesus said: The seed is the Word of God, so what the sower cast was good. The instruction on hearing in the Parable of the Sower is quite clear. Both have the same urgent sense and end with exclamation points, emphasizing urgent seriousness. The first command to hear lies in the Parable of the Sower and the second in the Parable of the Wheat and Tares. ![]() Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” He gives the same sobering admonition in Matthew 13:41-43: Jesus says in Matthew 13:8-9: “But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He says in verse 1, “Draw near to hear.” In verse 2, he advises, “Do not be rash with your mouth,” as well as, “let not your heart utter anything hastily before God” and “let your words be few.” In verse 3, he states, “A fool's voice is known by his many words.” Finally, back in verse 2, he counsels humility, “for God is in heaven, and you on earth.” Whatever they were doing was more serious than it appeared on the surface. The counsel Solomon gives provides specific insight into the evils these people were committing. Hearing is just a God-given capability, while listening is a skill that needs to be learned and constantly practiced.The key to learning and understanding is through listening.Hearing is a sense or perception of sounds through the ear while listening is deciphering the meaning behind the sounds.If you want to understand and learn knowledge always use your ears to listen and not just to hear words. So when somebody gives you an oral instruction, it is always a wise decision to listen and not only hear. On the other hand, hearing is more like of a sense. Aside from this, listening requires attentiveness and concentration which requires your brain to work. Therefore, listening begets understanding while hearing does not. Hearing is just the perception that there are several sounds going through your ear while listening is parsing every part of the sound and understanding what it is meant. Listening and hearing may be both sensed through our ears but beyond that listening is very different to hearing. What is the difference between Listening and Hearing? In the field of Law, hearing means ” an act of listening to evidence in a court of law or before an official, especially a trial before a judge without a jury.” We simply sense that our environment is noisy, but we do not know the cause behind the noise, which is hearing. ![]() However, hearing is just receiving the sounds from the ear, most often we do not process the sounds. When we are born, it will take about a month’s time before we can hear an assortment of sounds. Hearing is an inborn trait of any individual. Also, listen in is one phrasal verb of the verb listen. Now, this verb listen has its origin in the Old English word hlysnan. ![]() As mentioned earlier, listening comes from the verb listen. In order to understand what the other person is talking about, we must listen to him or her. Most memories are inculcated into our brain due to the reason that we listen carefully to every sound, words, and music that we hear. ![]() Listening requires your brain to work out every bit of sounds to form words or sentences that you can understand. Listening is the processing of sounds to understand the meaning behind it. Hearing does not need our intention, but to listen we need to have an intention of hearing the sounds. The main difference between listening and hearing can be put in this way. Hearing comes from the word hear while listening is created from the word listen. It is the most effective communication between each other, hearing is already a capability we are born with, except if you are deaf or mute or when you are a hearing-impaired individual. Listening and hearing are both kinds of sense that are processed by the brain through the ear. Since hearing and listening seem to be very closely related, it is important to understand the difference between listening and hearing. ![]()
